DODOMA: THE Parliament yesterday passed a resolution, congratulating President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her exemplary leadership.
The resolution that received overwhelming support from legislators was tabled by CCM Special Seats MP Asia Halamga to acknowledge President Samia’s efforts in hosting the historic Energy Summit early this week in Dar es Salaam.
The MPs said President Samia deserves congratulations for, once again, taking Tanzania’s name to new heights. They said the fact that Tanzania was chosen by the World Bank (WB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to host the Summit, showed that the world had confidence in the country’s governance. Nominated CCM MP Shamsi Vuai Nahodha congratulated President Samia for attracting a total of 21 Heads of State and other representatives of international organisations to Tanzania.
He said by hosting the Energy Summit, Tanzania had once again taken the lead in fighting for the prosperity of Africans.
“We did so during the liberation of African states during colonialism and today we are championing for availing power and clean cooking energy to Africans in the continent,” he said. Elibariki Kingu (CCM -Singida West) said CCM members who attended the recent party’s Extraordinary General Meeting held in Dodoma Region did not make a mistake by nominating Dr Samia to vie for president in the General Election scheduled for October this year.
